Wow, Meissner Wins

Kimmie Meissner just won the skating world championship. I didn't even know they would have an event like this so shortly after the Olympics, but I certainly didn't expect this kid to win it all. How great is that?

So, Bel Air had a parade when she came home from the Olympics, Fallston High had a basketball pep rally...

I dunno what more we can do.

I'm just glad she's well...a good hometown kid.

If I were her I don't know if I could really get back to mundane stuff like doing homework and SAT prep and college applications and not go crazy with the too-much-too-soon syndrome like Oksana Baiul did.

But she's worked hard, and may have 5-8 more years of world class skating ahead of her. She should enjoy every minute of it.

I feel like she won't go overboard. It's just a vibe.

Already had an argument with Dad about her.

He says that she'll be just a sitting duck for mean kids at school to tear her down.

I said I think she's going to prom, and is going to have more friends real or otherwise that want on her coattails.

Kimmie needs to start a blog so we can find out. I could see the sitting duck quality, but also the rest of the possibilities.
