My Reunion Story
I think you guys might enjoy this little gem from our Easter gathering just passed...
I was sitting outside on one of the picnic table benches after eating when the call to egg picking was issued. Naturally, all the kids came running inside from the sandbox and blacktop. Connor Wilson was no exception, but he had to make a pit stop next to me to pick up his shoes and socks first.
It turns out he's pretty proficient with the shoe and sock donning process. I gave him a hand with one shoe that was a little too tight for him to pull on by himself, but he handled everything else on his own while chattering on about how great egg picking was going to be, and how he hoped everyone wouldn't start without him.
I bet nobody would have even noticed if he had come in barefoot given the flurry of egg picking activity at the time, but Connor knew that he had to get his house in order, so to speak, before moving onto the next activity. Cute and responsible!

Easter Gathering
As usual, the family reunion was a great success, thanks to great company and Mike's hosting. It was great to see all of you guys as usual. Hopefully I'll see some of you soon for the aquarium trip, too. Happy Easter everyone.
Happy Easter

More from Lynn
In what has become classic Mosmiller family-connecting tradition, I shall continue to post emails I receive from new folks onto the site.
So Andy, if your great uncle was Louis, Jr. then I guess that makes us great cousins... as my grandfather was Louis, Jr. and, actually Louis and Elizabeth's (who my sister is named for) daughter Hilda was my mother and the daughter listed as Josephine (who is actually Josephine Catherine) goes by the name Catherine.. her birthday is this Thursday the 26th. We left Md. in 1957 and had little if no contact with that side of the family. I remember Uncle Albert (Goldbach) and Aunt Anna who married Frank Engle and had twin boys... Doug and Hugh.. so nice to catch up.
Uncle Lou (who was the father of Michael Kent was married to Alice and they had 6 children, Joyce, Wayne, Kent, Gayle and twin girls (they were babies when we left).

Another Family Contact
The following was added as a comment by Lynn Merkle Vorsatz to an older thread, so I figured I'd get it in a more visible spot.
I was born in Baltimore in 1947. My mother was Hilda Mosmiller Merkle of Riviera Beach Md. My father was Erwin Merkle and my sister is Beth and brother is Dick. My mother's sister.. Catherine Creed lived in Sunset Beach along with her husband Herbert and their four children.. Melanie, Herbie, Darlene and David Creed. Wayne Mosmiller is my cousin along with Kent and Gayle and the twins (who I really never knew as we moved to Florida in 1957. We have not had contact since then.

Help Page Update
I have added instructions for sending email notifications on the "Help" page. If you haven't posted or have forgotten how to post, check that page before you contact me, as it contains a step by step pictorial walkthrough. If you find my instructions unclear, let me know and I'll see what I can do. I realize that the posting interface is unfamiliar to you, but the process is about equal to sending an email in terms of difficulty. It just takes a bit of familiarity as with any program.

Genealogy Page Move
I have rolled the Genealogy page into the existing Info page. This new Info page now requires a username and password to gain access, which has been added to protect sensitive information.
I will send an email to those of you for whom I have contact information. There are still many blanks and out of date emails on the info page, so I can't get all of you. If you're unable to access the Info page, just and I'll send you the password right away.

Thanksgiving
Greetings!
We have just returned from another lovely Thanksgiving dinner at Susanne and Jim's. (The homemade cranberry sauce was excellent, Susanne.) Lots of nice conversations, a concert by budding trombonist Chris, (that was my instrument, too), and delicious food. How satisfying to be with our family again. Thank you all for yet another memorable holiday.

We found a great recipe for crab batter. Like the one we had at Meushaws and Tall Oaks. Go to the recipe section.

Hi Y'All,

It's been exciting that other Mosmillers contacted us through this doorway.

Disaster Relief Fundraiser
Given the state of affairs in New Orleans and the surrounding region, I have decided to sell my religiously-themed note cards and bookmarks as a fundraiser to aid in the reconstruction and rescue efforts. The entirety of the profit from each set of 10 cards, (totaling approximately $5.50 out of every $10), will go to UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee On Relief, which allows 100% of the donation to be used for relief effort since the overhead for the organization is already covered through donations through the church.
Cards may be purchased in sets of 10 in either a standard mixed set or with 10 cards from any of the seasonal designs as shown in the attached jpeg file. Each card features the design on the front with an accompanying Bible verse on the back of the card. Each verse, with the exception of the Christmas and Easter verses, are suitable for Jewish audiences as well. All sets of 10 cards save the Christmas version may be purchased for $10. A set of the Christmas cards costs $12 and includes a brief holiday message and design on the inside of the card in addition to the verse on the back face. Every set includes appropriately sized envelopes included in the price.
Sets of matching bookmarks may also be purchased for $10 for a set of 10. Each bookmark matches a card in design and contains an extended version of the verse printed on the back of the matching card.
I hope you will join with me in supporting the humanitarian efforts needed to restore the once great city of New Orleans and the surrounding areas damaged so heavily by Hurricane Katrina. Orders may be sent to cardsetc@themosmillers.org.
Yours in fellowship,
Andrew Mosmiller

Uncle Walter
When I attended my first Flahaven Thanksgiving at the Carrion's, Aunt Helen and Uncle Walter made me feel welcome and right at home. Walt immediately began sharing his dog stories with me and helped me to enjoy my visit. I will never forget the time that we accompanied them to Ocean City to fish from a head boat. (Oh, was I ever seasick!), but we still had a great time. When Andy came along, we were once again invited to visit at the ocean, where Aunt Helen gave Andy his first ride on the little boats at the amusement pier. We all stood their waving at him each time he circled around. Poor Andy just looked at us helplessly. (Or maybe he had already figured out that we were a little tetched. Tee hee!)
Walter had ready advice for us when Nugget joined our family, encouraging Skip to start training her early, (which advice Skip followed to the letter), making her a memorable pet, even if she never learned not to dig.
When Andy was young, and fascinated with airplanes and rocket ships, Uncle Walter gave him the replica of the space shuttle that was on his desk. (Andy still has it.) I am glad that I had a chance to know Uncle Walter, and will miss talking with him at family gatherings.
Love to all,
Carol

Walter
Thinking about Walter my main impression has always been how helpful he always was. The family has laughed many times about the time he was coming to go fishing at the shore, and I asked him to pick up a refrigerator for me. He did it without blinking an eye. I'm sorry to see him leave us, but we all know this man, who was always so active, would have dreaded to be in a situation where he was unable to do anything due to his health. What a wonderful person he was.

Family Contact
I received two emails from Michael Kent Mosmiller (goes by Kent) in the past month after he had seen the website. We all seem to be related but we're not entirely sure specifically how, so I'll post his messages here and you can comment with any additional info you might have.
Andy, I first must say I do not know you except we have the same last name. We must be related somehow because I am sure that all Mosmillers are related. We have six children on our side alone. Pasadena and Rivera Beach is where we used to spend summers at Aunt Hilda's along the waterfront. Uncle Herb was married to Hilda. They lived on Stony Creek. There are many Mosmillers in the Richmond area and I know they are related also. If you can, tell me what you know.
My father was Louis. Ed was his cousin. My grandmother was married twice and his half brother was Albert Goldbach. There is a John and Joseph Mosmiller as cousin's as well. Edward is the one that passed in the boat accident last year. His Dad was Edward as well and he lives in Tampa. I also have a brother Wayne and he has two son's Shane and Lance, They live in Pa. I have two son's Michael and Derrick who live in Baltimore. I was always under the impression there were two sides of this family, my grandfathers, which we are on and my grandfather's brothers side which you are on. Someone owned a store in Belair / Edgewood area called Mosmiller's Grocery Store. I think this was the family of Carol Mosmiller-Vidmar. I believe she works for Legg Mason. Anyhow my sister Gayle knows way more than I do about all this than I do.
I think he mixed up Sheila's name, but barring that I think we have some interesting information to work with here. If you'd care to get in direct contact I can link an email as well with his permission of course.

Great Easter Gathering
As usual the big family Easter get-together was great. I think I have some egg-picking wounds on my hand from some overzealous youngsters, but I will survive to pick another day.
I added a recipe category to the main page here. It won't become visible until some recipes are actually posted, but you can choose it from the category list now when you post. I think it's a great idea to have family recipes up here. Anyone who wants to post a recipe, go ahead if you know how, or feel free to contact me if you don't. Don't forget the comprehensive help page too. I need to add a little something to it, but it takes you through the entire process up to the email notification part. To send email notifications to everyone for your post, scroll down the page after you save your post. You will see an option there that was previously not visible.
For anyone who took pictures today, contact me and send them so I can add them to the pool.
Happy Easter everybody!

Craft fair
I am signed up for a table at the Chesapeake craft fair this coming Saturday, March 19th, but I need help manning the tables. I can't do it myself due to my health. If any of you would be willing to work at my table at any point from 9-3, (8:30 to set up probably, as tables must be ready by 8:45), I would be very appreciative.
I will have all the cards ready to go as well as order forms handy in case things get low, so I think things will be fairly easy to handle. I have a couple people helping out between certain times, but I would really like to have 2 there all the time if possible.
Thanks!

Thanksgiving @ Jim & Susanne's
What a great day! It is wonderful to get together for a special feast with those you love, isn't it? An added treat is that Susanne's parents are there to add to the conversation. We truly are blessed to be part of such a loving family. Thank you, Susanne & Jim and everyone who gathered Thursday. Too bad we can't get the whole clan together as we once did, but the sub-groups are just great.
Chris entertained us with a few numbers on the alto sax and Matt and company did an energetic guitar number. My, the talent!
Love, Carol

Copyright Questions
I know we have plenty of lawyers or people with access to lawyers in our family, so maybe some of you can help me with this...
I need to copyright my cards, bookmarks, and bag designs before I try to sell them in any serious capacity. I have the short form sitting here in front of me, but I don't know if I need to fill out and pay separately for each card, bookmark, and bag design, or if I can fill out one form for all the cards at once, or perhaps one form per general design. For example, I have a 4-toned butterfly picture that appears in card, bookmark, and bag form. Would that constitute one design (the card and bag are identical except for size), 2, or 3? I can post graphical examples if that would help.
Perhaps better still, do any of you know of organizations who might be set up to help disabled folk with beginning business management?
You can leave any suggestions or answers as comments on this post. Thanks all.

Call for Help
Can anyone out there take over my card sales for me? With my health the way it is, I stand no chance of doing this, and this is kind of all I have going this Holiday season. This is really the time to get my cards in local shops. If they don't even see them until after Thanksgiving, I can forget about it.
What I basically need is someone to do some phone work in order to get the idea out there and get email addresses to which I can send samples. I have a short list of places to call, but they require timing I just can't manage. The email part is much more viable for me.

Genealogy Info
Thanks Uncle Joe for sending me all of your Mosmillers genealogy info. It really looks like there's a lot to be discovered there. I do, however, need someone else to put together the data for the Genealogy page on this site. If I devote time to this, I won't be able to do anything else for 6 months or so. Once I have typed data, I'll convert it to the website and get it online, but I need others to take up the challenge on this one. Anyone interested in doing this, or in teaming up with other people to get it done, please leave a comment on this post indicating your interest.

Password the "Info" Page?
I would like your input on the subject of password-protecting the Info page. Would you prefer to allow access only to family members, or are you ok with having your addresses and phone numbers open to the public. It may be important to note that this page isn't likely to get traffic from those not in our family or those who are friends, though it isn't outside the realm of possibility that someone could stumble into the site.
Please appraise me of your opinion on this subject via the comments form below. Thanks!

Welcome!
Hi everybody! TheMosmillers.org is finally online. Every page should work now, though some will be empty until you post to them by logging in and creating entries. I'm currently working on finding the best system for posting pictures. For now, any pictures you would like posted should simply be sent to me via email or regular mail depending on the situation. I encourage you all to log in and give posting a try.
